NANJEMOY, Md. – A serious motor vehicle collision on Maryland Route 224 claimed the life of a Waldorf man on Monday, September 16, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 9:02 p.m. south of Woodbury Road, prompting an extensive response from Maryland State Police.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police (MSP) La Plata Barrack were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash. Due to the severity of the collision, a Collision Reconstruction Specialist (CRS) was requested. Trooper First Class M. Posch from the MSP Leonardtown Barrack was called in to lead the investigation.
Initial findings indicate that Timothy Proctor Sr., 64, of Waldorf, was driving a 1983 Chevrolet Camaro northbound on Maryland Route 224 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Camaro, traveling at a high rate of speed, veered off the roadway and struck a tree head-on. Emergency services arrived at the scene but pronounced Proctor deceased.
According to the preliminary investigation by MSP La Plata Barrack troopers and the CRS, speed and driver error appear to be contributing factors in the fatal crash.
