On the morning of September 24, an altercation occurred at St. Charles High School in Waldorf, Maryland, leading to the arrest of a student. The incident unfolded at approximately 10:40 a.m. when one student entered the classroom of another and initiated a confrontation, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The situation quickly escalated before school administrators intervened to deescalate the matter.

The student who initiated the altercation was charged with assault, in accordance with local juvenile laws. Authorities filed the charges on a juvenile offense report, which will be reviewed by the appropriate legal bodies. The injured student, who was involved in the fight but was not the aggressor, was treated by the school nurse for unspecified injuries.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact PFC Watkins at 301-609-3282, extension 0721. Meanwhile, school officials and law enforcement are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the altercation to ensure the safety of students.

In a separate incident that took place a few days earlier, on September 20, Charles County officers responded to a report of a potential gun threat involving a school bus from Piccowaxen Middle School. The report was made after a student on the bus allegedly saw someone pointing what appeared to be a gun toward the bus as it dropped off students at a stop.

The initial call to police came at approximately 2:30 p.m., prompting the school resource officer (SRO) at Piccowaxen Middle School to request additional assistance. Law enforcement officers responded swiftly to both the school and the location of the bus stop where the alleged incident occurred.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, officers were able to identify those involved in the situation. The investigation revealed that the event might be linked to an isolated dispute between specific individuals. At this stage, it is unclear if the person allegedly pointing the object was in fact armed, and authorities are still in the process of gathering additional evidence and testimony.

As the investigation continues, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the case will be submitted to the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office for further review. Pending charges may be filed once the investigation is complete.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Cpl. Cook at 301-609-3282, extension 0479.

Both incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by school administrators and law enforcement in ensuring student safety. These recent events have prompted increased vigilance and cooperation between school officials, parents, and law enforcement to maintain a secure environment in local schools.

School officials at both St. Charles High School and Piccowaxen Middle School have stressed that the safety and well-being of their students remain their top priority, and they are fully cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigations.

As both investigations progress, the community is urged to remain calm and allow the authorities to complete their inquiries. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
