The game’s tone was set early as St. Mary’s quickly took control with a goal just four minutes into play. Alyssa McLane, assisted by Makayla Marvray, struck the back of the net to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. The early score added pressure on Wilson College, which struggled to recover from the fast-paced play initiated by the Seahawks.

McLane was not done, however. She continued to be a force on the field, scoring her second goal in the 31st minute. This time, she received an assist from teammate Brooke Hall, doubling St. Mary’s lead to 2-0.

Throughout the first half, St. Mary’s offensive pressure was relentless. The Seahawks outshot Wilson 12-3, applying consistent pressure on the Phoenix defense. Despite three on-target attempts by Wilson, St. Mary’s goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland was a wall, turning away each shot to preserve the lead heading into halftime.

McLane Completes Hat Trick in the Second Half

After the break, the Seahawks showed no signs of slowing down. Just ten minutes into the second half, McLane once again found the back of the net, completing her hat trick with an assist from Ashlyn Bonner. This goal extended St. Mary’s lead to 3-0, securing the win early in the half and effectively sealing Wilson’s fate.

The Seahawks continued to dominate in terms of ball control and shot opportunities. The second half saw St. Mary’s outshoot Wilson 11-2. Kylie Wells took over in goal for St. Mary’s in the second half and picked up one save to contribute to the team’s defensive success.

Despite a few attempts by Wilson to create scoring chances, the Seahawks’ defense held strong, and St. Mary’s went on to secure their fourth consecutive clean sheet.

Inside the Numbers

Alyssa McLane’s hat trick brought her season total to six goals. Her performance was the standout of the day, but it wasn’t a one-woman show; 11 different Seahawks recorded a shot, showing the depth and balance of the team’s offensive unit.

On the defensive side, the tandem of Kyleigh Bland and Kylie Wells combined for four saves, playing key roles in maintaining the clean sheet. The team’s ability to control possession and outshoot Wilson by a total of 23-5 highlighted their dominance in all areas of play.

The victory marked St. Mary’s fourth consecutive shutout, showcasing the strength of their defensive line. With conference play underway, the Seahawks are looking to build on this momentum.

Up Next

The Seahawks will return to action on October 1, when they host Mary Washington in a non-conference matchup at 6:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. The team will look to extend their winning streak and continue their defensive dominance as they prepare for the rest of the season.
