LA PLATA, Md. — Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning on Chapel Point Road in La Plata, Maryland. The incident took place at approximately 12:17 a.m. on October 4.
Officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Chapel Point Road and Brooks Farm Road after receiving a report of a serious collision. Upon arrival, law enforcement and emergency medical services discovered a Chevy Tahoe that had veered off the road, struck a tree, and then returned to rest on the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 64-year-old Xavier Anthony Lenard Robinson from Bel Alton, was the only occupant of the car. Unfortunately, Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Operations Unit is currently leading the investigation. At this stage, authorities have not released any further details on the possible causes of the accident. Investigators are working to determine the factors that may have led to the fatal crash, including whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role.
