WESTMINSTER, Md. – Zeke Gayle, a junior Sociology major at McDaniel College from Waldorf, Md. (20603), has been awarded a two-year Army ROTC scholarship as part of the prestigious Green Terror Battalion. The scholarship, valued at $112,800, will cover full tuition for the remaining two years of Gayle’s education, alongside additional funding for books and a monthly stipend for living expenses.
The Army ROTC scholarship is awarded based on a student’s academic, athletic, and leadership qualities. Gayle’s achievement places him in an elite category of students who demonstrate potential for future leadership in the U.S. Army. Upon graduation, Gayle will be commissioned as a second lieutenant and required to serve in active duty, either in the U.S. Army Reserve or the National Guard.
The Green Terror Battalion, to which Gayle belongs, is one of the oldest and most respected ROTC programs in the nation, with a long-standing history of developing military leaders since its establishment at McDaniel College in 1919. The battalion includes cadets from McDaniel, Hood College, and Mount St. Mary’s University, with all participants receiving rigorous training aimed at developing skills necessary for military leadership roles.
