WHITE PLAINS, Md. – Middle school students teed off on Oct. 22 at White Plains Golf Course for the annual Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) Superintendent’s Cup golf tournament. The event saw five of the seven CCPS middle schools competing for top honors in this highly anticipated event of the school year.
Piccowaxen Middle School secured the first-place spot with an impressive score of 67, edging out the competition. Milton M. Somers Middle School followed in second place with a score of 76, while Matthew Henson Middle School rounded out the top three with a score of 81. Theodore G. Davis Middle School finished fourth with 83 strokes, and Benjamin Stoddert Middle School placed fifth with a score of 122.

The tournament is part of a series of athletic events organized for middle school students throughout the academic year. The Superintendent’s Cup is a key event in this lineup, providing students the opportunity to showcase their golfing skills while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
Upcoming athletic competitions for CCPS middle schools include an archery tournament in November, a volleyball tournament in January, a basketball tournament in March, and a track and field competition in April. These events offer students a diverse range of opportunities to participate in athletics and represent their schools in various sports.

This year’s golf tournament at White Plains Golf Course was a testament to the athletic talent and school spirit present within the CCPS middle school community.
