A fire early Sunday morning engulfed a two-story townhome in Waldorf, Maryland, causing an estimated $400,000 in damages to the property and its contents. No injuries were reported among the occupants or the responding firefighters.
Fire Origin and Response
The fire, originating on the rear deck of the residence located at 11300 block of Golden Eagle Place, was reported by an occupant of the home shortly after 5 a.m. The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department arrived promptly, with a total of 60 firefighters responding to the scene. Crews had the fire under control within approximately 20 minutes, preventing the blaze from spreading further, though adjacent townhomes sustained some damage.
Cause and Damage Estimates
Fire investigators have determined that the fire was accidental. Damage to the structure is estimated at $275,000, with an additional $125,000 in losses to the property’s contents. The townhome was equipped with both smoke alarms and a fire alarm system, both of which were operational and activated during the incident. However, there was no sprinkler system installed.

The fire affected neighboring townhomes, forcing families in the adjacent units to evacuate. The American Red Cross is currently assisting those who were displaced, ensuring they have access to temporary shelter and essential resources.
