LA PLATA, Md. — The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM Charles Regional) has announced the addition of Chaniece Simmons, WHNP-BC, to its Women’s Health practice at the UM Charles Regional Medical Group. Simmons, a certified women’s health nurse practitioner, is now seeing patients at the La Plata location.

“We are very excited to welcome Chaniece Simmons to our Women’s Health team,” said Evalyne Bryant-Ward, Vice President of Ambulatory Services at UM Charles Regional. “Her expertise in women’s health and obstetric care will be a tremendous asset to our patients and to the community we serve here in Charles County.”

Seven Years of Obstetric Expertise

Simmons brings over seven years of experience in obstetric care, specializing in supporting both low- and high-risk pregnancies. Her approach spans the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, offering patients a comprehensive continuum of care. Her expertise includes routine wellness exams, contraceptive counseling, maternity care, and menopause management.

“Women’s health is about providing care that addresses every stage of life, and I’m dedicated to ensuring each patient receives personalized, compassionate care,” Simmons said. “I look forward to working with the women in this community, supporting them through pregnancy and beyond.”

Academic and Professional Credentials

Simmons holds a Master of Science in Women’s Health from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Before joining UM Charles Regional, she provided labor and delivery care at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Her advanced clinical training enhances the UM Charles Regional Medical Group – Women’s Health practice, ensuring women in Charles County have access to top-tier care for every stage of life.
