The Baysox, a staple of Maryland’s baseball scene, unveiled a significant rebranding effort by officially changing the team’s name to the Chesapeake Baysox during a ceremony at The Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis on Friday. The new name reflects the team’s commitment to representing and connecting with fans from across the Chesapeake Bay region.
The team will continue to play at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Maryland, but the shift to “Chesapeake” highlights the Baysox’s growing appeal beyond their immediate community. The announcement comes after a record-setting 2024 season that saw fans flocking from 378 zip codes across all 23 Maryland counties and 1,733 zip codes in 42 additional states, totaling attendance from 2,111 zip codes in 43 states.
A Community-Centered Identity
Greg Baroni, Founder and CEO of Attain Sports, which owns the team, emphasized the importance of community in this rebranding effort.
“The Chesapeake Baysox, proudly based in Bowie, Maryland, are dedicated to offering affordable, family-friendly entertainment and outstanding customer service in a welcoming atmosphere for all,” Baroni said. “Our stadium is more than a venue—it’s a gathering place where the community comes together to experience the excitement of the game, rally behind our players, and celebrate together. We are here for everyone who calls the Chesapeake region home, as well as those who come to experience the beauty and spirit of our area.”
New Logos and Uniforms

The rebranding effort includes bold, Bay-inspired logos, such as a Maryland flag-inspired design and a striking image of a crab clutching a baseball bat. These designs aim to capture the team’s deep connection to Maryland’s culture and the Chesapeake Bay region. Fans can also look forward to an all-new set of uniforms, set to debut in time for the 2025 season.
