On December 6, an incident at Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head, Maryland, resulted in charges against two students following a strong-armed robbery and subsequent assault. According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, a student forcibly removed a ski mask or hat from another student’s head. The victim pursued the perpetrator to retrieve the stolen item, attracting the attention of school administrators who intervened to separate the individuals involved. During this intervention, a third student approached the victim and kicked them in the chest. School staff successfully separated all parties involved.

As a result of the incident, one student was charged on a juvenile offense report with assault and released to their parents. The student who stole the hat is expected to be charged with strong-armed robbery upon notification of their parents. Both students are also subject to disciplinary actions in line with the Charles County Public Schools Code of Conduct.

The School Resource Officer is actively investigating the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact PFC Barry at 301-609-3282 ext. 0574.

This incident adds to a series of recent events at Henry E. Lackey High School. On November 19, a student was charged with disruption of school activities after allegedly threatening to bring a weapon to harm another student. Earlier, on May 7, several students assaulted another student in a hallway over a vape device, leading to minor injuries and potential criminal charges.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of maintaining a safe educational environment and encourages the community to report any information related to such incidents.
