A fatal collision occurred on December 8, 2024, around 2:50 p.m. on Dicus Mill Road in Severn, Maryland. A 2007 Honda CBR motorcycle, operated by 25-year-old Andrew Peter Schmier of Millersville, was traveling eastbound between Burns Crossing Road and Gambrills Road.

At a curve, the motorcycle fell over, sliding into the westbound lane and colliding with a 2023 Kia Sorento driven by a 38-year-old resident of Glen Burnie. The fire department pronounced Schmier deceased at the scene. The Kia’s driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating the incident.

This marks the second fatal motorcycle accident on Dicus Mill Road in recent years. In June 2019, 42-year-old Andres Ricardo Porras died after losing control of his Yamaha motorcycle and colliding with an oncoming truck on the same road.

Authorities urge motorists to exercise caution, especially on winding roads like Dicus Mill Road, to prevent such tragedies.
