In the early hours of December 7, 2024, a fatal single-vehicle accident occurred in Lothian, Maryland. At approximately 4:30 a.m., Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to the area near Plummer Lane and Pindell Road following reports of a car crash.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a 2014 Lincoln sedan that had veered off the westbound side of Plummer Lane, west of its intersection with Pindell Road, and collided with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to ignite. Fire department personnel arrived promptly and pronounced both the driver and a passenger deceased at the scene.

As of now, the identities of the deceased individuals have not been released, pending further investigation and notification of next of kin. The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors.

This incident adds to a series of recent fatal accidents in the Lothian area. On December 5, 2023, a 23-year-old woman from Lusby died in a single-vehicle crash on southbound Route 4 near Lower Pindell Road. In another case, a 23-year-old man from Clinton succumbed to injuries following a high-speed collision on Sands Road near Patuxent Mobile Estates on April 6, 2024.

Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant to prevent further tragedies on the roadways. The community is reminded to stay informed about traffic conditions and safety advisories issued by local law enforcement agencies.
