PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation has announced the opening of a state-of-the-art tennis and pickleball court complex at Dunkirk District Park. Construction began in October 2023, and the project has now been completed, offering enhanced recreational opportunities for the community.

The new facility features five tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, upgraded lighting, restrooms, and expanded parking. Bob Branham, director of Calvert County Parks & Recreation, highlighted the broader impact of the complex, stating, “We’re not just adding tennis and pickleball courts; we’re adding a place for connection, wellness, physical activity, and a space for all in our community to enjoy.”

Facility Details and Availability

Three dedicated tennis courts and four pickleball courts are now open for public use on a first-come, first-served basis, provided they have not been reserved in advance. The multiuse courts, requiring additional curing time, are scheduled to open in January 2025.

To reserve a court, residents can email sports@calvertcountymd.gov or contact the Sports, Community & Well-Being Office at 410-535-1600, extensions 2227 or 2229, during office hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
