St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks will host a public information session to gather community feedback on the proposed sports complex in California, Maryland. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County Meeting Room, Chesapeake Building, 41770 Baldridge Street, Leonardtown, Maryland.

In February 2024, the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County and the Maryland Stadium Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding to initiate architectural and engineering services for the potential development of the complex. The project envisions a 100,000–135,000 square foot indoor facility, an outdoor facility spanning approximately 36 acres, and adequate parking and support spaces.

The purpose of the session is to provide the community and other stakeholders with an opportunity to engage in discussions with the design teams from Manns Woodward Studios, based in White Marsh Station, Maryland, and BallParchitecture, located in Bethesda, Maryland. Local citizens, organizations, and governmental agencies are encouraged to contribute input that will guide the planning and development process. This initiative is part of a Maryland Stadium Authority preliminary design study.

Future Feedback Opportunities

Additional public input opportunities, including online surveys and community gatherings, will be available during spring 2025. Specific dates, times, and locations for these sessions will be announced in the coming months.
