Dunkirk, MD — Early Sunday morning, the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded to a reported house fire at 1oo block of Patuxent Mobile Estates. Initial reports indicated people might be trapped inside, prompting a rapid response from Truck 5, Deputy Chief 5, and additional units.
Working closely with Engine 9, Engine 20, and Squad 1, Truck 5 crews conducted thorough searches, ventilation, and overhaul operations. While no individuals were found inside the home, firefighters sadly discovered two dogs that did not survive the incident.
Chief 5B led the operation from Side C of the structure, ensuring coordinated efforts and maintaining safety throughout the response.
