Maryland’s six casinos generated $164.1 million in revenue from slot machines and table games in December 2024, a slight decrease of 0.9% compared to December 2023. Contributions to the state from casino gaming totaled $69.8 million, down 0.5% from the previous year.

The December contributions included $50.4 million directed to the state’s Education Trust Fund (ETF), a key resource for Maryland public schools. Although this marked a decline of 0.5% compared to December 2023, year-to-date trends highlight steady growth. During the first half of Fiscal Year 2025, spanning July through December 2024, total casino gaming revenue increased by 1.2% year-over-year. Contributions to the state rose 2.5%, while the ETF saw a 2.6% increase.

Maryland’s casino revenues also provide vital funding to local jurisdictions hosting casinos, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses. The six privately owned casinos feature a mix of slot machines and table games designed to attract diverse audiences.

In December 2024, MGM National Harbor led the state with $73.6 million in revenue, a 4% increase compared to December 2023. Live! Casino & Hotel followed with $59.1 million, reflecting a 2.4% decline. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore generated $13.2 million, a significant 12.9% decrease from the prior year. Hollywood Casino Perryville earned $7.1 million, a 6% drop, while Ocean Downs Casino experienced a modest 0.8% growth, reaching $7.1 million. Rocky Gap Casino Resort reported $3.9 million in revenue, a decrease of 11.9%.

The slight year-over-year decline in December reflects a mix of regional competition and seasonal fluctuations. However, the overall fiscal year performance indicates consistent growth across Maryland’s gaming industry, underscoring its role as an economic driver. Funds generated from gaming continue to support education, infrastructure, and community development across the state.
