Brick, a 1-year-old, 54-pound pup with a gentle heart, has been waiting at the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter for 41 days, hoping for a fresh start. His journey began when his owner could no longer care for him. Though shy and uncertain at first, Brick has slowly opened up, revealing a sweet, affectionate personality, especially when treats are involved.

A Quiet Home for a Timid Soul

Brick thrives in calm and quiet environments where he feels secure. Due to his timid nature, he would do best in a home without small children. While the shelter staff continues to learn more about his behavior with other animals, Brick has shown polite interest during on-leash introductions with another dog. If you have other pets, slow, proper introductions will be key to helping him adjust.

A Smart and Eager Learner

Brick is already showing off his intelligence—he knows the “sit” command and is eager to learn more. His love for treats makes him an ideal candidate for further training. However, the stressful kennel environment has taken a toll on him. Brick has begun displaying stress behaviors like vocalizing, jumping, and smearing feces overnight. Despite these challenges, his true personality shines when he’s removed from the kennel chaos—he becomes calm, sweet, and affectionate.

Why Brick Deserves a Second Chance

Brick’s New Year wish is simple: to find a loving home where he can blossom into the incredible dog he’s meant to be. With patience, care, and a little guidance, he will make a loyal and loving companion. Brick is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative, making him ready to start his new chapter.
