CLINTON, Md. — A fatal crash Friday evening in Clinton claimed the life of a local resident, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.

Ezequiel Maza Espadas, 33, of Clinton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle collision on January 10, 2025. The crash occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. in the 9800 block of Surratts Road. Authorities confirmed that Maza Espadas was driving southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.

An adult male passenger in the car at the time of the crash was not injured. Police have not released additional details about the vehicle’s speed or potential contributing factors, such as weather or road conditions.
