Marisa Daley, president of The MIL Corporation (MIL), will serve as the Executive Leadership Chair for the 2025 Alzheimer’s Association Ride to End ALZ® Nation’s Capital. The event is set for Saturday, May 3, at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia.
The Ride to End ALZ is a cycling event aimed at accelerating research efforts to combat Alzheimer’s disease. Participants raise funds and awareness to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission, with 100% of funds raised going toward Alzheimer’s and dementia research. Since its launch in 2022, the Nation’s Capital Ride has raised over $1.3 million, and this year’s goal is $750,000.
Daley expressed her enthusiasm for taking on this leadership role. “I accepted the generous invitation to chair the 2025 Ride to End ALZ Nation’s Capital because this is a worthy cause,” Daley said. “There is a need to expand awareness of the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association, and this event provides a platform to accomplish that. As an avid cyclist, I know my professional and athletic networks can bring new faces and connections to expand the success of this ride in its fourth year.”
Daley’s interest in cycling and fitness aligns with research exploring how lifestyle changes can help reduce the risk of dementia. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, up to 40% of dementia cases worldwide may be attributable to modifiable risk factors such as physical activity, diet, and heart health. The organization is funding the U.S. POINTER Study, a two-year clinical trial evaluating the impact of lifestyle interventions on cognitive decline. Results from this study will be presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in Toronto this summer.
Jessica Wells, National Director of the Ride to End ALZ, praised Daley’s commitment. “We are thrilled to have Marisa’s leadership in 2025,” Wells said. “Her connections in the corporate and cycling communities, along with her passion for fitness, will be invaluable as we continue to grow and succeed. We look forward to achieving new milestones together under her guidance.”
The 2025 Ride to End ALZ will feature scenic routes through Loudoun County, ranging from 10 to 100 miles. Participants will enjoy rest stops, Support and Gear (SAG) crews, breakfast, and a celebratory after-party with catered meals and beverages. Riders from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., as well as states as far as Texas and Colorado, are expected to participate.
Those interested in joining must be 18 or older and are required to make a $75 registration donation and raise a minimum of $500 to participate. Fundraising incentives include an exclusive Ride to End ALZ jersey.
