Detectives have identified and charged three juveniles in connection with an armed robbery at a business in the 3500 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf on January 14. The incident occurred at 7:44 p.m. when two suspects entered the establishment while a third suspect acted as a lookout. The suspects displayed a handgun and demanded tobacco products from the employees. After complying, the employees reported that the suspects fled with a large quantity of vape cartridges.
Following the incident, detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division began an investigation. With the assistance of a CCSO school resource officer, investigators identified three juveniles as suspects, all of whom were determined to be high school students. Search warrants were executed at three locations, leading to the recovery of evidence linking the juveniles to the crime. Among the items seized was a replica handgun equipped with an extended magazine.
On January 16, the suspects were taken into custody. Two of the juveniles, both 16 years old, were charged as adults with multiple offenses, including armed robbery, first-degree assault, and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime. They are being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center. The third suspect, a 15-year-old, was charged as a juvenile in accordance with Maryland law and released to his parents on electronic monitoring by the Charles County Department of Juvenile Services.
The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of Detective Wimberly. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
