PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is inviting the community to open their hearts and homes to a new furry companion. From Tuesday, Feb. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, the shelter is offering a special adoption rate of $14 for all cats and dogs to approved adopters as part of its “Paw-sitively Purr-fect Love” event. Additionally, adoption fees will be waived for all other animals in the shelter, including guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, and pigs.

The event aims to encourage adoptions and ensure that more shelter animals find permanent homes. To show appreciation, each adopter will receive a personalized Valentine’s Day card and a special treat. The shelter hopes this initiative will inspire more people to consider adoption while spreading love to animals in need.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to find a loving companion while also helping to clear the shelter,” a shelter spokesperson said. “Valentine’s Day is about love, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by giving a shelter pet a forever home.”

The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter welcomes both experienced pet owners and first-time adopters. Shelter staff will assist in matching animals with suitable homes, ensuring a smooth transition for both pets and families.

Adoptions can be completed at the shelter, located at 5055 Hallowing Point Road in Prince Frederick. Visiting hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested in learning more about the adoption process can visit www.CalvertCountyAnimalShelter.com/Adoption.
