UPDATE 2/17/2025 @ 5:30 p.m.: A Delta Connection CRJ-900 aircraft operating as Flight 4819 from Minneapolis-Saint Paul to Toronto Pearson crashed while landing on Monday afternoon, flipping onto its roof upon impact. The aircraft, operated by Endeavor Air, was carrying 80 people, including 76 passengers and four crew members.

According to officials, 15 people sustained injuries in the crash. Among them, a child and two adults are in critical condition, while 12 other passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports emerged of an aircraft “upside down and burning,” as captured in air traffic control recordings. Toronto Pearson International Airport has suspended all arrivals and departures indefinitely as authorities begin their investigation into the cause of the crash.

Endeavor Air, a regional airline wholly owned by Delta Air Lines, operates the CRJ-900 under the Delta Connection brand. The aircraft is commonly used for short-haul flights across North America.

The crash comes as Toronto deals with severe winter weather, with city officials stating that snow removal could take up to three weeks following consecutive winter storms. It remains unclear whether weather conditions played a role in the accident. Investigators will analyze flight data, cockpit voice recordings, and operational factors to determine the cause of the crash.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has dispatched a team to the crash site to begin a detailed inquiry. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Toronto, ON – A Delta Air Lines flight arriving from Minneapolis was involved in an incident upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, according to airport officials. Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, and all passengers and crew members have been accounted for.

Authorities have not released specific details regarding the nature of the incident. However, photos circulating on social media appear to show the aircraft flipped upside down with smoke emerging from the jet.

Toronto Pearson Airport confirmed in a statement that emergency crews responded immediately and are working to assess the situation. There were no immediate reports of serious injuries among those onboard.

The incident adds to growing concerns over recent aviation safety events. It comes just weeks after a fatal mid-air collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and a Black Hawk helicopter at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. That crash led to multiple fatalities and renewed discussions about air traffic safety protocols.

Authorities have not indicated whether weather conditions, mechanical issues, or other factors played a role in the Delta flight’s landing issue. Investigators are expected to examine flight data and interview the flight crew to determine what led to the incident.

Toronto Pearson has urged travelers to check with their airlines for any potential disruptions as emergency teams continue their response. More information is expected as officials provide further updates.
