A warm, homemade breakfast shared with loved ones can be the perfect way to start the day. Whether it’s a plate of fluffy French toast or a simple slice of toast topped with fresh fruit and nut butter, these small moments around the table can bring comfort and joy.
Now, breakfast can be even more meaningful with recipes inspired by wish kids. Nature’s Own has partnered with Make-A-Wish to support children with critical illnesses, donating $500,000 to the organization through 2026. This collaboration is highlighted through the Slice of Hope Campaign, which celebrates the power of wishes by sharing the inspiring stories of wish recipients.
Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 375,000 wishes across the United States, helping children build strength and hope as they face serious illnesses. Many wishes bring families together and provide a sense of normalcy during difficult times, reminding communities of the impact a single act of kindness can have.
To celebrate the partnership, special-edition Nature’s Own Butterbread packaging features three wish kids: Addison, who fulfilled her dream of visiting Pearl Harbor; Aden, who experienced an unforgettable fishing trip; and Joanna, who found adventure while learning to surf in Hawaii. The campaign also includes in-store displays and a digital “Well Wish Wall,” where shoppers can send encouraging messages for wish kids to read.
Nature’s Own senior director of brand management Krystle Farlow shared the company’s excitement about the campaign, stating that the two-year journey is a meaningful way to help grant life-changing wishes and spread joy.
With that spirit in mind, these two easy breakfast recipes—Bananas Foster French Toast and Peanut Butter and Apple Toast—offer a delicious way to start the morning while celebrating the impact of Make-A-Wish.
Bananas Foster French Toast

This indulgent recipe brings together warm caramelized bananas and perfectly golden French toast for a comforting breakfast.
Total time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
For the French toast:
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 stick butter
- 1 loaf Nature’s Own Butterbread
For the bananas foster sauce:
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 bananas, sliced lengthwise and quartered
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Heat a nonstick griddle or pan over medium heat and melt butter. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture twice, ensuring it is fully coated. Place the slices on the griddle and cook until golden brown on each side.
To make the sauce, melt butter and brown sugar together in a pan, stirring in the cinnamon. Once the mixture reaches a smooth, caramel consistency, add the sliced bananas and gently coat them in the sauce. Continue spooning the sauce over the bananas as they cook.
Plate the French toast and top with caramelized bananas and sauce before serving.
