The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center has expanded its women’s health team by welcoming two experienced midwives, Cassandra Burrell, MS, CNM, and Jashia Pinkney, CNM, WHNP-BC, C-EFM. This strategic addition aims to enhance the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care for women across Southern Maryland.

Cassandra Burrell brings over 15 years of dedicated service in maternal and women’s health. Her comprehensive expertise spans antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. As a graduate of a Master of Science in Midwifery program and a certified nurse-midwife accredited by the American Midwifery Certification Board, Burrell is committed to providing culturally competent care. She emphasizes patient empowerment through education and actively participates in the American College of Nurse Midwives. Beyond her clinical role, Burrell contributes to the community through involvement in organizations like Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.

Jashia Pinkney is a dual-certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. Her robust background encompasses full-scope midwifery care, including advanced prenatal services, labor and delivery support, and postpartum guidance. Pinkney earned her Master of Science in Nursing and is recognized for her advocacy in maternal health and dedication to mentoring future healthcare professionals. Her contributions extend to academia, with teaching roles at Georgetown University, presentations at international health conferences, and active engagement in community outreach initiatives.

Both midwives are now seeing patients at the UM Charles Regional Medical Group – Women’s Health, located at 5010 Regency Place, Suite 301, in White Plains. Their combined expertise in maternal health and personalized patient support is set to elevate the standard of care available to women in Charles County and the surrounding communities.
