A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, the Tidal Potomac River, and areas along the I-95 corridor, including central Maryland, northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. This advisory warns of severe thunderstorms, strong winds, and hazardous marine conditions that could impact the region.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, with the potential for damaging wind gusts, hail, and even a possible tornado. The most significant threat is currently focused on areas around Fredericksburg, Virginia, and southern Maryland. As a result, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. for multiple counties, including Calvert, Charles, Dorchester, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Wicomico, and Worcester.

In addition to the storm threat, Gale Warnings have been issued for all regional waters through 11 p.m. tonight. These hazardous conditions will continue into Thursday, prompting Gale Watches for the waters Thursday afternoon and night. Additionally, strong winds could lead to Wind Advisory conditions north of the Highway 50 corridor.

Residents and boaters are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions as these weather conditions develop. Spotters are encouraged to report severe weather observations to the National Weather Service.
