LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is asking for public help to find a suspect linked to an attempted kidnapping and armed robbery in Mechanicsville on March 17, 2025.
The suspect, described as a white male, 30 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a large belly, brown facial hair, and glasses, fled in a teal Saturn SUV after assaulting a woman with a knife. Authorities warn he may be armed and dangerous.
The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. in the 28000 block of Old Village Road. Deputies arrived after a female victim reported that an unknown man approached her, attacked her, and tried to force her into his vehicle while threatening her with a blade. She resisted, escaped to her car, and drove off. The suspect then fled southbound on Route 235 in his SUV. No arrests have been made, and the search continues.
