INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) arrested John Alan Lynch, 28, of Indian Head, Maryland, on April 2, 2025, following his indictment by a Charles County Grand Jury. Lynch faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor, sexual solicitation of a minor, and solicitation for prostitution stemming from an incident at Henry E. Lackey High School. An arrest warrant was issued, and Lynch was taken into custody the same day.

The case began on January 23, 2025, when Lynch, then a building service worker at the high school, allegedly used a social media app to solicit a student for sex, offering money in exchange for sexual favors. The student reported the incident to school staff and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) school resource officer, prompting an immediate investigation by CID detectives. After reviewing the suspect’s messages, authorities confirmed Lynch’s employment at the school and his inappropriate contact with the student.

The investigation revealed that Lynch had worked at Lackey High School for approximately seven years, having passed federal and state background checks upon hiring in 2018. Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) conducts random background checks every three years, a policy Lynch cleared until this incident surfaced.

The CCSO is urging anyone who may have been inappropriately contacted by Lynch to contact Detective Sapienza at 301-609-6554, as the investigation remains active.
