PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter in Calvert County is hosting its Hoppy Tails Easter adoption event from April 15 to April 19, 2025, inviting qualified adopters to bring home a shelter pet with waived fees for select animals. The shelter, closed on April 18 for Easter, aims to find loving homes for its animals during this special promotion.

The event features “golden egg” adoptions, where shelter staff randomly choose pets to have their adoption fees covered. “Shelter staff will randomly select pets to be sponsored with a ‘golden egg discount,’ meaning their adoption fees will be waived,” the shelter announced. Every adopter will receive a special gift from their new pet, an Easter basket with surprises, and a treat bag for their animal. The promotion runs Tuesday through Saturday, excluding the holiday closure, during regular hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Located at 5055 Hallowing Point Road, the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is open for adoptions and walk-ins during the event. The shelter encourages potential adopters to visit and meet available pets, emphasizing a welcoming process for both experienced and first-time pet owners. “Whether you’re a longtime pet owner or a first-time adopter, the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is dedicated to making the adoption process a joyful and rewarding experience,” the shelter stated.

Adoption typically involves an application and consultation to ensure a good match. For those interested in learning more, the shelter’s website provides detailed information on the process. To schedule an intake appointment for surrendering animals, the shelter can be reached at 410-535-7387. The facility also maintains active social media presence for updates, accessible on Instagram (@calvertcountyanimalshelter) and Facebook.

The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter encourages the public to visit during the event to find a new companion. With waived fees for select pets and added gifts, the promotion offers an opportunity for community members to make a difference in an animal’s life while celebrating the season.
