DUNKIRK, Md. — A Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputy apprehended a suspect following a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle that began in Dunkirk, Maryland, and ended in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at approximately 8:41 a.m. The incident involved a traffic stop, a failed immobilization attempt, and a foot chase, culminating in the arrest of Alexander Wade Foote, 28, with no fixed address.

The incident began when a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a reported stolen vehicle along Town Center Boulevard in Dunkirk. The driver initially complied but then fled northbound on Route 4, crossing into Prince George’s County. Deputies pursued the vehicle, attempting a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, which proved unsuccessful. During the chase, the driver intentionally rammed police vehicles, escalating the situation.

The pursuit continued onto Suitland Parkway, where Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputies successfully boxed in the stolen truck near Naylor Road. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, climbing an embankment and entering a housing complex in the 2800 block of Shipley Terrace SE. With assistance from the Metropolitan Police Department, deputies located and apprehended the suspect, identified as Foote. He faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, and various traffic-related offenses. No injuries were reported during the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Foote’s charges reflect the severity of the incident, particularly the assault on a police officer and reckless endangerment, which carry significant penalties under Maryland law. According to the Maryland Sentencing Guidelines Manual, fleeing and eluding can result in up to seven years imprisonment, while assault on a police officer may lead to enhanced penalties.The ongoing investigation may yield additional charges as deputies review evidence, including any damage to police vehicles.
