WALDORF, Md. — Firefighters swiftly contained a house fire in the 2710 block of Tred Avon Court in Waldorf on April 19, 2025, with no reported injuries. The blaze, which broke out around 5:30 p.m., prompted a rapid response from multiple fire units, including Truck 11 and Engine 33, who worked to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of occupants.
At approximately 5:27 p.m., Charles County fire units were dispatched to the residential structure fire in the 2000 block of Tred Avon Court. Engine 33 from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department arrived first, observing smoke and fire emanating from the roof. The crew immediately called for a working fire dispatch to summon additional resources. Truck 11, responding as the second-due truck, arrived shortly after and assumed first-due truck responsibilities due to its early arrival. Firefighters found the blaze at the rear of the home, extending into the attic and roof area.
Truck 11’s crew focused on critical tasks, assisting with searches to ensure no occupants were trapped and opening up walls and ceilings to provide engine companies access to hidden fire pockets. “Truck 11 operated approximately 2 hours before returning to service,” according to a Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Inc. report. An additional crew remained at the station, handling five other calls for service in the area during the incident, demonstrating the department’s ability to manage multiple emergencies simultaneously.
The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished through coordinated efforts. Multiple firefighting units conducted extensive checks and ventilation operations to prevent the fire from rekindling. All occupants were safely evacuated, and the homeowner was able to remain at the residence, indicating the home sustained manageable damage. No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters, a testament to the rapid and effective response.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State of Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office, with preliminary reports suggesting the blaze originated at the rear of the home. .
Firefighters cleared the scene after approximately two hours, with no further incidents reported. The investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about potential contributing factors, such as electrical issues or external ignition sources.
