LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The Rex Theatre in Leonardtown will host a full-band acoustic performance by platinum-selling rock band Trapt on April 26, 2025, at 8 p.m., bringing an intimate rock experience to Southern Maryland. The 21-and-over event offers general admission standing tickets only, available through the venue’s ticketing platform. Doors open at 7 p.m. at the historic theatre at 22695 Washington St., promising a night of reimagined hits for local fans, as promoted on The Rex Theatre’s website.

Trapt, formed in Los Gatos, California, in 1995, rose to fame with their 2002 nu-metal hit “Headstrong,” which topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. Led by vocalist Chris Taylor Brown, the band has released eight studio albums. Their 2013 acoustic EP, Echo, highlights their versatility in unplugged settings. “It’s strange to be playing them differently, but I think it’s cool to give the fans something new to listen to,” Brown said in a 2013 Loudwire interview about their acoustic work.

Fans can expect acoustic versions of songs like “Still Frame” and “Echo,” alongside newer material, performed with the band’s raw energy. Trapt’s acoustic shows, such as a 2018 performance at The Masquerade in Atlanta, have been lauded for Brown’s powerful vocals and the band’s cohesive sound, offering a “blend of intensity and intimacy”.

The Rex Theatre, originally opened as the New Theatre in 1941 by Kenneth Duke, has been a Southern Maryland landmark since it was transformed into a live music and event venue by owner Joe Kurley in 2023.

With a capacity for standing-room and VIP table seating, the venue’s intimate atmosphere suits Trapt’s acoustic set, fostering a close connection between the artist and the audience. The April lineup includes a Metallica tribute on March 29 and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack on April 25, showcasing Leonardtown’s growing status as an entertainment hub.

Trapt’s recent acoustic performances, such as a 2023 show in Tampa, featured reworked arrangements that highlighted Brown’s emotive delivery, earning fan praise for their fresh take on classics. The Leonardtown event follows a Trapt acoustic stop in Hickory, North Carolina, on April 17, reflecting their active 2025 tour schedule. General admission tickets are non-refundable. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure prime spots.
