ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) has partnered with Annapolis Mall to showcase the artwork of over 3,000 student artists in a vibrant exhibit, open through May 14, 2025. The display, located between the SPCA and LUSH, features a diverse collection of drawings, paintings, mixed media, and photography, highlighting the creativity fostered in AACPS visual arts classrooms.
The exhibit reflects the imagination and dedication of students across the county’s schools. From intricate pencil sketches to bold acrylic paintings, each piece demonstrates the range of artistic expression nurtured by AACPS educators. The display not only celebrates student talent but also underscores the role of visual arts in education, offering a platform for young artists to share their perspectives with the public.

A public open house is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, from 6 to 7 p.m., inviting families, teachers, and community members to view the artwork. Attendees are encouraged to gather outside Crate & Barrel at 6:15 p.m. for a special welcome address by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell. The event aims to foster community engagement and celebrate the students’ achievements.
This partnership between AACPS and Annapolis Mall provides a unique opportunity for students to gain recognition beyond the classroom. By displaying their work in a high-traffic public space, students experience the impact of sharing their creativity with a broader audience. The exhibit serves as a testament to the school system’s commitment to fostering artistic growth and personal expression through its visual arts programs.
The artwork represents a cross-section of AACPS’s student body, with contributions from elementary, middle, and high school students. The variety of mediums and styles showcases the depth of the school system’s arts curriculum, which encourages experimentation and individuality. Visitors to the mall can expect to see pieces that range from traditional to innovative, each telling a unique story of its creator.
The exhibit also highlights the importance of community partnerships in education. Annapolis Mall’s collaboration with AACPS provides a visible platform for student work, reinforcing the value of creative expression in learning. The open house event further strengthens these ties, inviting the public to engage directly with the students’ accomplishments.
