
WALDORF, Md., May 9, 2025 — Yonelle Moore Lee, Esq., Chairperson of the Board of Education of Charles County, has been appointed as chairperson of the National Black Council of School Board Members (NBCSBM) and named an ex officio director of the National School Boards Association (NSBA). These roles position her to influence educational policy and advocacy on a national scale, representing Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) and advocating for Black school board members and marginalized students across the United States.
As NBCSBM chairperson, Moore Lee will lead initiatives to empower Black school board members, focusing on policies that support historically underserved students and communities. Her role as an ex officio director of NSBA will involve advocating for the needs of CCPS and Maryland’s public school systems, emphasizing their strengths and challenges. These appointments highlight her longstanding commitment to educational equity, transparency, and student achievement.
