YORK, PA (May 20, 2025) – The York Revolution staged a dramatic comeback to defeat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 7-6 in a closely contested Atlantic League game at WellSpan Park. The Blue Crabs jumped to an early lead, but York’s late-inning surge, capped by a walk-off sacrifice fly, secured the victory before 2,848 fans.
Southern Maryland struck first, scoring four runs in the opening inning. Jackson Loftin and Sam Dexter drew walks, setting the stage for Dondrei Hubbard’s triple to right field, which drove in two runs. Alejandro De Aza’s single plated Hubbard, and an error by York’s second baseman allowed De Aza to score, giving the Blue Crabs a 4-0 lead. York answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, fueled by Justin Connell’s home run after Jalen Miller reached base and stole second.
The Blue Crabs extended their lead to 5-2 in the fourth when Loftin scored on a wild pitch. They added another run in the seventh when Hubbard doubled and scored on Brett Barrera’s sacrifice fly. However, York mounted a critical rally in the eighth. Miller singled, Connell walked, and a wild pitch advanced both runners. Marty Costes’ single and Jeffrey Wehler’s two-RBI single tied the game at 6-6, with Frankie Tostado and Costes scoring.
In the ninth, Miller singled and stole second, and Connell walked. After Tostado reached on a fielder’s choice, Brandon Lewis’ sacrifice fly brought Miller home for the winning run. Cam Robinson earned the win for York, pitching a scoreless ninth, while Jimmie Sherfy took the loss for Southern Maryland.
Hubbard led the Blue Crabs, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. For York, Miller went 3-for-4, scoring three runs and stealing two bases, while Connell’s home run and two RBIs proved pivotal. Both teams recorded one error, with Southern Maryland’s coming from catcher Ryan McCarthy and York’s from second baseman Miller.
The game, which lasted 3 hours and 9 minutes, saw 11 pitchers used, with Southern Maryland’s Shawn Semple throwing six innings, allowing two runs, and York’s Matt Walker giving up five runs (four earned) over five innings. The Blue Crabs left seven runners on base, while York stranded eight.
