SOLOMONS, Md. — A fatal motor vehicle collision occurred on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m. on southbound Solomons Island Road (Route 4) near Creston Lane in Solomons, Calvert County, leaving one person dead and two others injured. Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to reports of a serious crash involving entrapment, and the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation due to the incident’s severity.

The collision involved a 2005 white Lincoln Town Car, driven by Lewis Bert Michaud, 66, of Lusby, and a 2021 GMC operated by Lindsay Rae Kreuter, 34, of Lothian. A preliminary investigation indicates that Michaud was traveling northbound on Route 4 and attempted to cross the southbound lanes toward Creston Lane. At the same time, Kreuter was driving southbound on Route 4, approaching the intersection. According to Kreuter, the Lincoln crossed into her path, and she was unable to avoid the collision. The GMC struck the Lincoln on the passenger side.

The passenger in the Lincoln was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities are withholding the passenger’s identity pending notification of next of kin. Michaud, the driver of the Lincoln, was transported by ground to a local trauma center and is listed in stable condition. Kreuter was taken to CalvertHealth Medical Center with injuries also reported as stable.

Master Deputy First Class Jeffrey Hardesty of the Crash Reconstruction Team is leading the ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from witnesses or anyone with relevant details about the incident. Hardesty can be reached at 410-535-2800 or via email at Jeffrey.Hardesty@calvertcountymd.gov.

The crash temporarily disrupted traffic on Route 4 as emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about road conditions or other factors that may have contributed to the collision. The investigation is expected to examine the circumstances leading to Michaud’s attempt to cross the southbound lanes and any potential visibility or traffic control issues at the intersection.
