SEATTLE – The Washington Nationals dominated the Seattle Mariners 9-0 on May 28, 2025, at T-Mobile Park, leveling their three-game series. Trevor Williams pitched six shutout innings, and James Wood, Josh Bell, Luis García Jr., and Robert Hassell III each homered to power the Nationals’ offense. George Kirby took the loss for Seattle, allowing six runs over five innings.
The Nationals (25-30, fourth in NL East) struck early in the second inning. García Jr. hit a solo home run, his fifth of the season, followed by Bell’s seventh homer, giving Washington a 2-0 lead. In the fourth, Hassell III’s RBI single and José Tena’s two-run double extended the lead to 5-0. Wood’s solo homer in the fifth, his 15th, made it 6-0. The Nationals added three more runs in the eighth, with Hassell III’s first career homer and Wood’s two-run double, finalizing the score at 9-0.

Bell went 3-for-5 with a homer and an RBI, while Hassell III was 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Tena added two doubles and two RBIs. Williams (3-5, 5.69 ERA) was stellar, allowing three hits and no runs with two strikeouts over six innings. Relievers Brad Lord, Jose A. Ferrer, and Zach Brzykcy combined for three scoreless innings, allowing two hits. The Nationals’ defense was solid, with one error by Wood but two double plays turned.
The Mariners (30-24, first in AL West) struggled offensively, managing five hits and going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Miles Mastrobuoni led Seattle, going 2-for-2 before being replaced by Dylan Moore. Cal Raleigh, Rowdy Tellez, and Ben Williamson each had a hit, but the team left four runners on base. Kirby (0-2, 11.42 ERA) allowed seven hits, including three homers, and six runs. Jackson Kowar and Blas Castaño pitched in relief, with Castaño giving up three runs.
Seattle’s lone error came from Tellez, and Mastrobuoni was caught stealing, as detailed in the sports card above.
