BALTIMORE, Md., June 1, 2025 — The Baltimore Orioles narrowly defeated the Chicago White Sox 3-2 in a closely contested game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Sunday. The Orioles, now 22-36, secured the victory with timely hitting and solid pitching, while the White Sox fell to 18-41 despite a late rally.

The game remained scoreless until the third inning when the Orioles struck first. Maverick Handley singled, followed by Jackson Holliday’s double. Ramón Urías drove in Handley with a single, and Ryan O’Hearn’s sacrifice fly scored Holliday, giving Baltimore a 2-0 lead. The White Sox responded in the sixth when Andrew Benintendi scored on a fielding error by Holliday, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Baltimore extended their lead in the same inning when Dylan Carlson’s double drove in Coby Mayo, making it 3-1.

Chicago mounted a comeback in the seventh when Mike Tauchman hit a solo home run off reliever Gregory Soto, narrowing the gap to 3-2. Tauchman, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and a homer, was a standout for the White Sox. Despite their efforts, the White Sox left seven runners on base and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, hampering their chances of tying the game.

Orioles starter Charlie Morton earned the win, improving to 2-7 with a 6.20 ERA. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on six hits while striking out seven. Bryan Baker secured his first save of the season, striking out two in a scoreless ninth. For the White Sox, Adrian Houser took the loss, falling to 1-1 with a 1.47 ERA after allowing three runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings.

“We got the key hits when we needed them, and our pitching held strong,” said Orioles manager Brandon Hyde. The game saw defensive miscues, including two errors by Baltimore and a catcher interference call, but the Orioles capitalized on their opportunities. The White Sox struggled with clutch hitting, leaving runners stranded in critical moments.
