WALDORF, Md. — A vehicle crashed vertically into a residence in Charles County overnight on June 9, 2025, prompting a swift response from 33 Volunteer Fire/EMS and local police after a 911 hang-up call led authorities to the scene. The incident, which left the vehicle partially embedded in the Bravo side of the home, resulted in injuries to two female occupants who escaped through the vehicle’s sunroof.

Police arrived first, finding the two women in the backyard of the residence. Fire and EMS crews, including Rescue Engine 11, Rescue Engine 1, and Collapse 1, quickly assessed the situation. A 33-year-old female was classified as a Priority 2 (Category A) trauma patient and airlifted by Maryland State Police Trooper 2, which landed at James Craig Elementary School with coordination from Rescue Engine 11. The second patient was transported by ground to a local hospital by PA-129.

Fire crews conducted a thorough search of the vehicle to confirm no additional occupants were trapped and performed a structural assessment of the home to check for utility hazards. No structural collapse occurred, and no residents inside the home were injured. Rescue Engine 12 supported patient care and EMS operations, while other responding units staged until released by Chief 11B, McCormick.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Charles County police, with no immediate details released about the circumstances leading to the vehicle striking the home. The incident disrupted the quiet residential neighborhood, drawing a coordinated response from multiple emergency services to ensure the safety of all involved.

The 33 Volunteer Fire/EMS, based in Waldorf, is a key provider of emergency services in Charles County, working alongside law enforcement and state police to respond to critical incidents. The use of a medevac helicopter underscores the severity of the trauma sustained by one of the occupants, while the ground transport of the second patient highlights the efficient allocation of resources.

The structural assessment by fire crews was critical to confirming the home’s stability, preventing further risks to responders or residents. The absence of injuries among the home’s occupants was a fortunate outcome, given the dramatic nature of the crash. Authorities have not disclosed whether the vehicle’s occupants were residents of the home or visitors.
