BOWIE, Md. — The Altoona Curve defeated the Bowie Baysox 4-2 in a Double-A Eastern League game on June 25, 2025, at Prince George’s Stadium. The Curve (32-38, 4th in EAS Southwest) snapped a close match with a two-run eighth inning, while the Baysox (31-38, 5th in EAS Southwest) fell despite tying the game in the seventh. Justin Meis (2-1, 2.59 ERA) earned the win, Walter Pennington (0-1, 2.60 ERA) took the loss, and Wilkin Ramos (1.82 ERA) secured his third save.

The Curve struck first in the third inning when Wyatt Hendrie hit a two-run homer off Nestor German, scoring Kervin Pichardo. The Baysox responded in the bottom of the third, with Alfredo Velásquez’s single driving in Luis Valdez, who had stolen second and advanced on a throwing error by Hendrie. The score remained 2-1 until the seventh, when Velásquez’s double scored Carter Young, tying the game at 2-2.

In the eighth, Nick Cimillo’s two-out double off Pennington scored Termarr Johnson and Sammy Siani, giving the Curve a 4-2 lead. Mike Jarvis, pinch-running for Cimillo, stole third but was stranded. Ramos closed out the ninth, retiring the Baysox in order to seal the victory. The Curve recorded seven hits, with Cimillo and Hendrie each driving in two runs. The Baysox managed five hits, with Velásquez accounting for both RBIs.

Curve pitching was led by Blake Townsend (3.0 innings, 1 unearned run) and supported by Brandan Bidois, Cy Nielson, Meis, and Ramos, who combined for 14 strikeouts. For the Baysox, German pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs, while relievers Yaqui Rivera, Pennington, and Daniel Lloyd followed. A wild pitch by Pennington in the eighth and a throwing error by Hendrie were the game’s only miscues.

The game, attended by 1,078 fans, began at 7:01 p.m. under clear skies with 80-degree weather. It lasted 2 hours and 31 minutes. The Curve left four runners on base, while the Baysox stranded five. Both teams struggled with runners in scoring position, with Altoona going 1-for-4 and Bowie 2-for-6.
