The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs secured a narrow 4-3 victory over the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars in an Atlantic League of Professional Baseball game on June 26, 2025, at Meritus Park in Hagerstown. The Blue Crabs, with a season record of 30-24, capitalized on a strong third inning to outlast the Boxcars, who fell to 14-40.

The game, attended by 2,158 fans, began at 6:32 p.m. and lasted 2 hours and 56 minutes under partly cloudy skies with temperatures at 87 degrees. Jalen Miller earned the win for Southern Maryland, pitching two scoreless innings, while MacCallan Conklin took the loss for Hagerstown. Andre Scrubb closed the game with a perfect ninth inning to secure the save.

Southern Maryland struck first in the third inning, scoring three runs. Sam Dexter singled and scored on Alejandro De Aza’s single, followed by Pearce Howard and De Aza crossing the plate on Ethan Wilson’s single and Brett Barrera’s hit. Hagerstown responded with a solo home run by Tyler Williams in the third and a two-run homer by Joe DeLuca in the fourth, tying the game at 3-3. The Blue Crabs regained the lead in the seventh when Ryan McCarthy scored on a bases-loaded walk to Wilson.

McCarthy led Southern Maryland with two doubles and a run scored, while Dexter and De Aza each had two hits. Williams paced Hagerstown, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and a stolen base. The Blue Crabs recorded 10 hits to Hagerstown’s six, with Southern Maryland’s defense turning a double play and committing one error.

The Atlantic League, founded in 1998, is an independent professional baseball league featuring eight teams across the eastern United States. The Blue Crabs, based in Waldorf, Maryland, have been a consistent contender, while the Flying Boxcars, in their inaugural season, are building their presence in Hagerstown.
