BRYANS ROAD, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025, in Charles County, resulting in the death of a local resident. The incident took place on northbound Maryland Route 210, north of Maryland Route 225, at approximately 12:30 a.m.

The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Kory Branson, 45, of Bryans Road, Maryland. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Charles County emergency medical services personnel. The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. No charges have been filed at this time, according to the Maryland State Police.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to the report of a crash involving a pedestrian. A preliminary investigation indicates that Branson was attempting to cross Maryland Route 210 when he was struck by the Chevrolet Tahoe. The circumstances leading to Branson’s presence on the roadway remain under investigation. Maryland Route 210 was closed for more than two hours to allow the Maryland State Police Crash Team to conduct a thorough investigation at the scene.

Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration provided assistance during the investigation, managing traffic control and road closures.
