BALTIMORE, Md. — A southern Anne Arundel County woman won $50,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket purchased in Lexington Park, the Maryland Lottery announced June 30, 2025. The winner, who claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, bought the $20 THE GAME OF LIFE™ ticket at Hermanville Sunoco, 21141 Three Notch Road, during a family trip to St. Mary’s County.
The winner, who plays scratch-offs sporadically when the mood strikes, said, “When I’m out and about, I think about it. I like to play when I feel it!” She felt that impulse while in Lexington Park and carefully scratched the ticket to reveal the second-tier prize. The game, which has a top prize of $1 million, still has three unclaimed $1 million prizes and four of six $50,000 prizes remaining.
This $50,000 win surpasses her previous best Lottery prize of $3,500. Despite the substantial prize, she plans to save the winnings rather than spend them on travel or other expenses. Living close to family and friends, she has no immediate need to relocate or visit far-off destinations. The winner, who picked up the Lottery hobby from a friend years ago, confirmed her intention to continue playing, stating, “I sure will.”
THE GAME OF LIFE™ ticket, launched in October 2022, is an oversized scratch-off that cannot be purchased through Lottery vending machines, requiring players to request it from a clerk. The game’s design mimics the classic board game, with players scratching designated spots to reveal prizes. The Maryland Lottery promotes such games to engage players and fund state programs, including education and public health initiatives.
The Hermanville Sunoco station, a frequent stop for locals and travelers along Three Notch Road, has sold winning tickets in the past, contributing to the Lottery’s statewide network of retailers. The Maryland Lottery, established in 1973, generates revenue for state services, with scratch-off games accounting for a significant portion of sales. In fiscal year 2024, the Lottery contributed over $1 billion to Maryland’s general fund, supporting schools, infrastructure, and community programs.
Players interested in THE GAME OF LIFE™ or other scratch-off games can find participating retailers and game details on the Maryland Lottery’s website https://www.mdlottery.com/. The Lottery advises players to play responsibly and check tickets carefully, as unclaimed prizes expire 182 days after a game’s end date. With several top prizes still available, THE GAME OF LIFE™ remains a popular choice among Maryland players.
