ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Governor Wes Moore announced the launch of the Maryland Benefits One Application on July 16, 2025, a mobile-friendly tool designed to simplify access to essential benefits for Marylanders. This platform allows eligible residents to apply for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Women, Infants, Children (WIC) programming, and energy assistance through a single, user-friendly application accessible via computer or smartphone.

“Today, we take a big step forward in our work to ensure that Marylanders can access the basic services they need,” said Gov. Moore. “The Maryland Benefits One Application ensures the people of our state can apply for food, cash, and emergency assistance through a single, accessible one-stop shop.” The initiative addresses gaps in federal support for veterans, seniors, disabled residents, and working families, offering a streamlined solution for benefits access.

The Maryland Benefits One Application, available through the Maryland Benefits platform (formerly MD THINK), reflects a collaborative effort among the Maryland Departments of Information Technology, Health, and Human Services. The platform has undergone technical upgrades, enhanced oversight, and improved inter-agency coordination to serve 1.3 million Marylanders more effectively. The application process, averaging 28 minutes, eliminates the need for multiple office visits or lengthy separate applications.

“The Maryland Department of Information Technology is using its resources and expertise to support and expand the Maryland Benefits platform,” said Secretary Katie Savage. “Alongside our sister agencies, we are sweating the technical details so Marylanders receive human-centered, cost-effective government services.” The platform leverages automation, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based solutions to enhance efficiency and security.

Maryland Benefits One Application simplifies enrollment for critical services, addressing long-standing customer feedback about complex application processes. “All across the state, we’ve heard our customers loud and clear: it shouldn’t be so hard to sign up for benefits,” said Maryland Department of Human Services Secretary Rafael López. “Using a mobile phone to access the help that a family deserves is critical.”

The Maryland Benefits One Application also supports health equity. “Streamlining our benefits eligibility and enrollment technology means people can more easily sign up for and use the critical benefits they need and deserve,” said Maryland Department of Health Secretary Dr. Meena Seshamani. The platform’s transition to the Department of Information Technology has optimized data use and operational efficiency.

The initiative underscores the state’s commitment to accessible, efficient, and equitable service delivery, ensuring residents can secure vital support with ease.
