On July 18, 2025, at 10:45 p.m., a Charles County patrol officer responded to a Waldorf domestic assault in progress near Golden Eagle Place. The officer observed a female victim fleeing from a male suspect in a vehicle. As the officer approached, the suspect sped off, struck a curb, and disabled the car. He then fled on foot into nearby woods, carrying a red backpack. The suspect, identified as Ky-Mari Monte Bowman, 18, of Waldorf, was apprehended with the assistance of a police K9 unit, found hiding under steps at a Bel Aire Court residence.

Officers recovered significant evidence during the Waldorf domestic assault investigation. Bowman had discarded his clothes, which contained over $1,000 in cash. The red backpack he carried was located, revealing a polymer 80 firearm, commonly known as a ghost gun due to its lack of a serial number, and 1.5 pounds of suspected marijuana. Drug paraphernalia was also found along the path Bowman fled. The items recovered led to multiple charges, including aggravated assault, illegal possession of a firearm, and drug possession violations.

Investigation Details

A preliminary investigation into the Waldorf domestic assault revealed a violent altercation between Bowman and the female victim. The two were involved in an argument during which Bowman allegedly struck the victim multiple times in her face and abdomen. As the victim attempted to flee the vehicle, Bowman grabbed her hair and tried to drag her back. He then pressed her against a fence and choked her, escalating the severity of the assault. The victim’s escape prompted the officer’s intervention, leading to Bowman’s flight from the scene.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office utilized a K9 unit to track Bowman after he fled into the woods. The K9’s assistance was critical in locating him under the steps of a nearby residence on Bel Aire Court, where he had removed his clothing in an apparent attempt to evade capture. The swift response by patrol officers ensured no further harm came to the victim or the community.

Charges and Detention

Bowman faces a range of charges stemming from the Waldorf domestic assault and subsequent discoveries. These include aggravated assault for the attack on the victim, multiple weapons violations due to the possession of the ghost gun, and drug possession charges related to the 1.5 pounds of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond, pending further legal proceedings.
