Queenstown — The Annual Golf Tournament benefiting Hospice of the Chesapeake will take place Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course in Queenstown, Maryland. The event aims to raise funds for the nonprofit’s programs and services in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and Prince George’s counties, including Southern Maryland areas where it provides hospice care, supportive services and grief support. Last year’s tournament generated nearly $225,000 to support these initiatives.
Registration for the Hospice of the Chesapeake golf tournament opens at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start scheduled for 10 a.m. Participants receive a full breakfast provided by Main & Market, lunch at the turn from Buddy’s Grill, an awards banquet catered by Two Rivers Steak & Fish House, beverages on the course, range time, greens fees, a golf cart and a $50 gift card for use at the mobile Taylor Made Pop Up Shop. Golfers can reserve foursomes through the organization’s website.

Augusta level sponsor is The Michael Stanley Foundation. Heritage level sponsors are Coastal Management Associates, LLC; Crescent Cities Charities; Flooring Partners; George W. Queenstown Harbor Golf Course, located at 310 Links Lane, features two 18-hole championship courses along the Chester River, offering scenic views and challenging play for public access. The River Course and Lakes Course, designed by Lindsay Ervin, span 7,110 yards and 6,600 yards respectively, with amenities including a driving range and practice facilities. The venue is about 45 miles from Annapolis and accessible from Southern Maryland via U.S. Route 50, making it convenient for residents in Calvert and Charles counties participating in the Hospice of the Chesapeake golf tournament.
Hospice of the Chesapeake, Maryland’s largest independent nonprofit hospice organization, delivers physical, psycho-social and spiritual support to individuals with advanced illnesses. In 2024, it cared for more than 4,000 adults and young people through hospice services, provided pediatric care to 20 infants, children and teens, and offered supportive care to 2,200 individuals. Daily, over 600 patients receive care, with 25 percent being veterans. The organization operates an inpatient care center in Charles County at 2505 Davis Road in Waldorf, serving residents there and in neighboring Calvert County.
In Southern Maryland, Hospice of the Chesapeake integrated Calvert Hospice in 2022, expanding its reach to provide a full continuum of care in Calvert County, including home-based hospice and palliative services. It offers grief support groups in Calvert County, such as monthly drop-in sessions led by volunteers, addressing bereavement needs for adults, families and children. In Charles County, the organization maintains Hospice of Charles County, focusing on end-of-life care and community health initiatives. Recent programs include an Advanced Cardiac Care Program launched in February 2025, which equips patients and families with tools to manage heart disease at home, reducing hospital readmissions in the region.
The Hospice of the Chesapeake golf tournament draws over 200 golfers annually, contributing to the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts. Beyond this event, the organization hosts other fundraisers, such as Fashion for a Cause, which raised more than $305,000 in June 2025 at the U.S. Naval Academy Club in Annapolis. It also partners as the official charity for the 2025 St. Charles Running Festival, broadening community engagement.
Founded in 1979 as Hospice of Prince George’s County, the organization expanded over decades to cover four counties, incorporating supportive care, pediatric programs and integrative arts. In Southern Maryland, where populations in Calvert and Charles counties rely on local healthcare networks, Hospice of the Chesapeake addresses gaps in palliative care access, including efforts to improve services for Black communities through resource reallocation. The group provides 3,200 grief support sessions annually and emphasizes care regardless of ability to pay, supported by events like the Hospice of the Chesapeake golf tournament.
