Michael Bronson Andrade, a 48-year-old Chesapeake Beach resident, was apprehended by St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies on September 7, 2025, following a domestic-related incident in Great Mills. The arrest, which ended a brief manhunt, led to Andrade’s transport to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where he faces serious felony charges, including home invasion, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or crime of violence. The charges stem from an early morning disturbance that prompted a swift law enforcement response in a quiet Southern Maryland community.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on September 7, deputies responded to a call at a residence on Longfields Village Drive in Great Mills, a small community near Chancellors Run Road. According to the sheriff’s office, Andrade allegedly entered the home, confronted a victim while brandishing a firearm, and fled on foot before deputies arrived.

The incident, described as isolated and tied to a domestic situation, triggered an intensive search involving K9 units and multiple deputies. Authorities warned residents that Andrade, described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, and last seen wearing camouflage shorts and a black shirt, should be considered armed and dangerous. By late morning, deputies safely apprehended him without further incident, as announced in a sheriff’s office update posted on X at 11:53 a.m..

The charges against Andrade reflect the gravity of the alleged crimes. Home invasion, a felony under Maryland law, carries a potential sentence of up to seven years, while first-degree assault can lead to 25 years in prison. The firearm charge further enhances potential penalties, signaling the seriousness with which the state addresses such offenses. However, the investigation remains active, with Detective Kortnie Marsch leading the effort to uncover additional details.

Marsch is urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward, offering contact options including a direct line at 301-475-4200, ext. 8179, or email at Kortnie.Marsch@stmaryscountymd.gov. For those preferring anonymity, tips can be submitted through St. Mary’s County Crime Solvers by calling 1-866-411-TIPS or texting “Tip239” (case-sensitive) to 274637. A cash reward is available for information leading to an arrest, with anonymity guaranteed to encourage community cooperation. The sheriff’s office stressed the importance of even minor details in piecing together the events of that morning.
