WALDORF, MD — Charles County Sheriff’s Office officers are investigating two recent armed robberies in Waldorf involving firearms and the theft of designer tennis shoes, with authorities probing a possible connection between the incidents. Charles County Crime Solvers has posted a cash reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to arrests and indictments in either case.

The first incident occurred on September 19 at 3:10 p.m., when two suspects approached a group of juveniles near Buckthorn Lane and Constitution Drive. The suspects displayed a firearm and stole designer tennis shoes from two of the juveniles before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported in that event, but the use of a weapon escalated the confrontation into an armed robbery under Maryland law, which classifies such offenses as felonies carrying penalties of up to 15 years in prison and fines up to $15,000 per count, according to the state’s Criminal Law Article §3-402.

Two days later, on September 21 at 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the 11800 block of Edmont Place for another robbery report. Several suspects approached three victims, brandished a handgun and took a pair of designer tennis shoes and a backpack. The suspects then fled westbound on Edmont Place and entered a dark-colored SUV. This nighttime occurrence in a residential neighborhood off St. Charles Parkway heightened concerns, as Waldorf’s 11800 block features closely spaced townhomes and apartments where quick escapes via vehicle can complicate pursuits.

Detectives are examining similarities, including the targeting of designer footwear and the display of handguns, to determine if the same group committed both acts.

Officer J. Berry is leading the probe and can be reached at 301-609-3282 extension 0788 for information. Anonymous tips are encouraged through Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS, online at www.charlescountycrimesolvers.com or via the P3Intel app.

The program, a nonprofit collaboration with the Sheriff’s Office since 1984, assigns tipsters an identification number to ensure confidentiality while evaluating rewards based on case impact.
