
LEONARDTOWN, Md. — St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a stabbing on September 27 at 5:17 p.m. in the 21000 block of Essex Drive, Lexington Park. A male victim, stabbed multiple times in the torso, was airlifted to a trauma center and is in critical but stable condition. The suspect, Delanta Darius Robertson, 21, of Baltimore, fled on foot. A warrant charges him with attempted second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault.
The incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim and Robertson, who knew each other. The suspected knife was recovered at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office states the attack is isolated, posing no wider community risk.
The Criminal Investigations Division, handling major crimes from its Leonardtown headquarters, identified Robertson through witness accounts. He is a Black male, 5 feet 10 inches, 130 pounds, with dark skin, a full beard, black hair, and brown eyes, last seen in black athletic pants and a T-shirt.
