Key players bring regional ties to the roster. Mauro, a freshman outside hitter from Leonardtown, chose St. Mary’s for its campus and academic programs, majoring in business administration. Porter, a middle blocker from Williamsburg, Virginia, competed in three sports at Warhill High School before joining the Seahawks. Mendieta, an outside hitter also from Williamsburg, committed to St. Mary’s after a club career with Williamsburg Volleyball Club, describing herself as a versatile pin hitter.
Albright, competing in the MAC Commonwealth, has faced a challenging season, including a 3-1 loss to Wilkes on September 18 and a 3-0 defeat to Gwynedd Mercy on October 2. The Lions’ roster includes freshmen like Aleshandra Arroyo and Kariana Minaya, as introduced in a team photo on September 5.
The win positions St. Mary’s to climb conference standings, where cumulative statistics show the Seahawks ranking mid-pack in kills per set at 11.2 and assists at 10.4 through early October. Conference play continues with road tests, testing the team’s depth amid a roster blending freshmen and upperclassmen.
