Jason Wilkins of Strasburg, Virginia, completed the trifecta this past weekend, taking the Hobby Stock portion of the Southern Maryland Small Car Nationals Saturday at Potomac Speedway. Wilkins’ victory Saturday at Potomac is the culmination of a sweep of Small Car action in the region, with the Virginia driver also winning Small Car Nationals at Hagerstown and Winchester this year.
Starting 5th in the 26-car field, Wilkins bided his time, inheriting the lead when Trent Clemens slipped up late in the event, then cruising to the 20-lap event win. Fellow Virginia driver Brian Hubbard came home second, followed by Hagerstown regular Evan Faust, while Clemens and Connor Cheseldine completed the top 5. Wilkins was also the top qualifier for the weekend, with heats going to Eric Hanson, Clemens, Mason Hanson, and Mikey Latham.

In the 30-lap Limited Late Model main, Sam Archer grabbed the lead from his pole starting spot, holding off all challengers for his second win of the season. Kyle Lear won the intense battle for second, with Jeremy Pilkerton, Austin Lathroum, and Dale Murphy completing the top 5. Lathroum was the top qualifier for the weekend, with heats going to Archer and Joey Love.
2025 Potomac Crate Champion Chuck Bowie outdueled Davis Lipscombe on the initial start, then survived several challenges on restarts to take the 25-lap event win. Lipscombe hung on for second, with Gunnar Walls, Ed Pope III, and Mike Raleigh completing the top 5. Raleigh was the top qualifier for the weekend, and also grabbed one of the 3 qualifying races, with Bowie and Pope taking the other heat race wins.
The 20-lapper for the Street Stocks found current series points leader Wyatt Hanson taking the initial lead from the pole, and rolling to the win in a very talented field of competitors. Hagerstown regular Ronne Dennis rolled home second, followed by Scotty Nelson, Bobby Meixsell, and PJ Hatcher. Mason Hanson was the top qualifier in the 21-car field, also grabbing a heat race win, with Wyatt Hanson and Kyle Randall taking the other two qualifiers.
Defending Strictly Stock champion Nabil Guffey grabbed the early lead from Shawn Howsare, then fended off rookie Brandon Crenshaw, in the process, scoring his third win of the season. Crenshaw held on for second, followed by Daniel Kanodle, Greg Mattingly, and Jack Regier.
Keith Brown won a long, hard battle with Thomas Windsor, taking his second of the season in the 20-lap UCAR finale for the year. Following the top 2 were Joe Suite, Nikolas Weber, and Allen Griffith.
After his fifth-place UCAR finish on Friday, Allen Griffith returned to take the 20-lap SCDRA Roadster main event, surviving a race-long battle with Justin Bottorff for his first win of the season.
Potomac will return to action on November 1 with the rescheduled Fall Clash for Super Late Models. The event, rained out from the previous week, will now become the final event of the season in Jim Berheheisels’ Fall Clash Series, with $10,000 up for grabs. The event will also feature the Street Stocks and SCDRA Roadsters in their final points race of the season.
